Sons of Hura
Product details
There is a sane imagination, a mad imagination, and an imagination that soars between the two worlds to gather wonder from both. Abdul Rahim Kamal’s new novel, “The Sons of Houra,” belongs to the latter type.
“And then he found himself in a room without a roof, inside which was a very beautiful white goose. It was just him and her in that sunny room, and when he approached her quickly with his sharp knife, she did not run, but remained still until he caught her and hugged her, and before he passed his knife over her neck, she whispered with her beak: I love you, Taher.”
Abdel Rahim Kamal is widely known as the writer of some of the most famous television series, such as "Al-Khawaja Abdel Qader," "Wanos," and "Sheikh Al-Arab Hammam." However, "Abnaa Houra" (The Sons of Houra) represents another facet of this great creative mind; the side of the novelist who takes the art of storytelling to vast worlds that only the reader's imagination can encompass. Here, we meet Houra and her unique children; we encounter Nour Al-Tariq Jamal, Husn Al-Jiwar Jamal, and Saif Al-Qadaa Jamal; we meet Al-Riyahi, Al-Hur Al-Wathiq, and Rammah Al-Hakaa; we see giants, hide from ghouls, and enter worlds where birds and humans mingle. We live in a Cairo unlike our own, and a future unlike our present, but one thing binds us together: the survival of love, however varied its forms.
