The Blue Light by Hussein Barghouthi... I decided to resign from several habits in my life: not to strive to be first in anything, or as Goethe said, "I built a house on nothing, and therefore, the whole universe is mine." People will call this "vagabondage" and deviance, and they will end up seeing everything "external," my superficialities. I must strengthen the mask by growing my hair longer, wearing sandals to change my appearance, and anything that would be another layer to distance people from my "center" and "spirit"—my clothes, my long hair, my vagrancy, my rudeness. They will think whatever comes to mind, so be it. This is useful; this is a third mask. Give me, give me—what? A third mask, please, another mask. And I must not "fight with people" in their world. I will isolate myself in a shell of few relationships, with only "exceptional" people, as few as possible. And I will transform, as I learned from "The Way of the Peaceful Warrior," from an exceptional person in an ordinary world to an ordinary person in a world Exceptional, just, with the fewest possible numbers, and I will transform, as I learned from "The Way of a Peaceful Warrior," from an exceptional person in an ordinary world to an exceptional one. I will avoid any pointless conflict. I will avoid it, like a ghost who only leaves his house after midnight, walking in back alleys, surrounded by villas where all the lights are on positions of power, and Awad. All I ask is that no one notices my passing. Give me, please, give me... what? Another mask, a fourth mask.
