Overview
Sicily, April 16, 1677. Before his sudden death, Viceroy Charles III appoints his wife, Donna Eleonora, as his successor. Doña Eleonora faces numerous intrigues from the city's bishop and corrupt council members who oppose her rule. She uses her intelligence and courage to expose their crimes and strives to implement several measures to transform the lives of Palermo's impoverished and miserable inhabitants.
The great Italian writer Andrea Camilleri deals with that extraordinary historical event that lasted only twenty-seven days - that is, one lunar cycle - in a narrative framework characterized by suspense, enjoyment, and wit.
