About the author
Robert James Waller was born in 1939 in Rockford, Iowa. Besides being a bestselling author, he was also a photographer and musician. Waller served as Dean of the College of Business Administration at Southern Iowa University until 1989 and died in 2017.
About the translator
Mohamed Abdel Nabi, an Egyptian writer and translator, was born in Dakahlia Governorate in 1977, and obtained a Bachelor of Languages and Translation (English Department) from Al-Azhar University.
He has authored numerous works, including short stories and novels, and has won the Sawiris Literary Award multiple times. His most recent works include the collection "Once Upon a Time" and the novel "In the Spider's Room," which won several awards and was shortlisted for the Arabic Booker Prize in 2017. Its French translation also won the Arab World Institute Prize in Paris in 2019.
He translated many important titles, both literary and non-literary, including two novels by Hisham Matar, "Timbuktu" by Paul Auster, "The Light of War" by Michael Ondaatje, and "Status Anxiety" by Alain de Botton. His translations of "A Million Windows" by Gerald Mernin and "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" by Richard Bach were published by Dar Al Karma.
