She straightened up, her heart pounding, and her gaze drifted towards the door. The closer the footsteps drew to her room's door, the faster her heart raced. The chandelier hanging from the ceiling swayed wildly, the light flickering as if about to dim, then intensifying and flooding the room again as if manipulated by an unseen hand. Someone knocked on the door three times forcefully, then waited a moment before knocking again with renewed determination when she didn't answer. She prayed that the knocker would leave, fearing she would lose her composure and reveal everything. The door creaked open slowly, and her guest entered. He approached, his eyes shining with longing and curiosity, and sat silently, waiting for her to confide all her secrets. She stared at his face until he thought she wouldn't speak, and finally, she swallowed hard. Her mind drifted back ten years, and she began to reveal the secrets she had kept hidden.
