Dialogues on Natural Religion

Product details

Dialogues Concerning Natural Religion by David Hume... In 1761, the dialogues were completed in the form we read them now. Hume may have written the introduction at that time, for in this introduction we find something new. He reminds us that the existence of God is a matter of certainty, a truth known throughout the ages, the foundation of human hopes, and the cornerstone of morality and society. It is good that we reflect upon it at every moment of our lives. Hume mentions all this to endear the book to us, but he does not fail to warn us of the difficulties we may encounter in understanding it. There are questions about the nature of God fraught with doubt, and the human mind has not yet attained certainty about them. However, they are such fascinating subjects that we cannot prevent ourselves from persistently investigating them, even though our most meticulous inquiries inevitably lead us to doubt, contradiction, and a lack of certainty.
