Salwa: A Biography Without End
Product details
Salwa by Karim Gamal... Oh dawn, a student in the gardens of a mother whose laughter is heard and whose angel is gentle. The rose was afraid to meet autumn. Fouad Haddad, a famous broadcaster, a Francophone poet, and a sacred martyr; these were the three faces of Salwa Hegazi, since her dramatic disappearance in February 1973. I started this project while searching for the image of Salwa Hegazi engraved in minds, but at the end of the road, with the discovery of her private and unpublished papers, I found myself facing a person who has not yet been discovered, and whose face has not shone as brightly as it should. Salwa Hegazi's biography was a poetic, anxious biography, and a tragic narrative of the meanings of fear and the ugliness of the enemy. Therefore, when my steps in research led me and I climbed the stairs of most of the institutions of the press archive to read what was written about her, all that concerned me was finding a thread that would lead me to understand Salwa; Despite what was written about her life and after her passing, her mystery remained, and the question about her remained: Why did Salwa Hijazi live her death before she died?
