Love affairs on Al-A'sha Street

Aziza, a devoted fan of Egyptian films, loses her sight on a stormy, dusty night. At the clinic, she listens intently to Dr. Ahmed's voice. She doesn't recognize whose voice it sounds like—Hussein Fahmy, Rushdy Abaza, or Shukry Sarhan?

After her recovery, she falls in love with him. Not because he's Egyptian—she doesn't like the accent—but because of the tenderness he exudes, making for a warm and intimate conversation. Her family opposes the relationship, and her story, like so many others in Al-A'sha Street, ends without a happy ending.

Will she run away with him to his country and change her name so that no one will recognize her, just as Tahia Carioca did?
