Wuthering Heights - Horizons

Product details

Wuthering Heights is Emily Brontë's only novel, originally written under the pseudonym "Alice Bell." Emily died shortly afterward from a terminal illness, and her sister published the novel under her real name, "Wuthering Heights." It was widely acclaimed and remains a masterpiece of English literature to this day. Labeling the novel as a romance is an understatement, despite the passionate and intense love story between the protagonist, Heathcliff, and Catherine Earnshaw, which unfolds over two generations. The novel also sheds light on the complexities of human relationships and the hidden depths of the psyche when it allows itself to be unleashed, leading to ruin and burning revenge. A cornerstone of English literature, the novel has garnered critical attention since its publication for its terrifying scenes of mental and physical cruelty. Furthermore, it has inspired numerous artistic works, including films, radio programs, and songs (most notably the song of the same name by Kate Bush), as well as operas and ballets.
