A collection of short stories consisting of 8 short stories, the first edition of which was published in 1979 with the escalating effects of the wars fought by Egypt, as well as the new economic policies during the era of President Sadat, where the dreams of young people diminished and many fell below the poverty line.

In “Love Above the Pyramid Plateau,” we meet a young man named Ali Abdel Sattar who suffers from sexual deprivation due to low income and the inability to find a job or suitable housing. When he finally finds a lover, he cannot find a place to bring them together.


“He smiled and asked me: Do you really believe that there is such a thing as history? I took his question as a joke, but he added: History can be dispensed with by the chapters of praise and satire in poetry.”


It is worth mentioning that cinema was inspired by the collection of stories, four films; “Love Above the Pyramid Plateau” which was directed by Atef El-Tayeb in 1986, and starred Ahmed Zaki and Athar El-Hakim.

"Saheb al-Soura" (The Photographer), directed by Ibrahim El-Sahn in 1987, starring Ahmed Mazhar, Huda Sultan, and Salah Qabil.
