“The Diaries Forbidden from Publication” by photographer and criminal expert Suleiman Effendi Al-Sayoufi, in which he recorded the details of a mysterious criminal case that took place during the outbreak of the plague epidemic in the nineteenth century in Cairo, after a body appeared floating in the waters of the Nile, carrying many secrets.

The events began during the period of Suleiman Effendi’s imprisonment in the Liman “Demirhane” prison, a life sentence of hard labor, “Category M”, under the weight of harsh and deadly conditions, the effects of which were reflected on his psychological state, leading to the exacerbation of his disorder, which was classified by psychiatrists as severe paranoid schizophrenia, whose symptoms combine delusions of persecution, and megalomania accompanied by severe delusions, the effect of which was multiplied due to Suleiman’s sudden and forced cessation of taking “John’s Herbs” which soothed the symptoms. Despite this, Al-Sayoufi was able to chronicle an exciting adventure surrounded by dangers from all sides.
