Cromer Papers Abbas II

After his two terms as Consul General in Egypt under Khedive Ismail, and then as the first High Commissioner following the British occupation, Lord Cromer never ceased asking questions. Evelyn Baring arrives in Egypt this time, having contributed his political acumen to the ascension of Prince Abbas Hilmi to the throne after the death of his father, Khedive Tawfiq.
